The specimens are intended for tactile and visual comparison with cylindrical and flat workpiece surfaces of similar lay, produced by similar production methods. Requirements for the form, production and accuracy of master surfaces, replicas and individually machined specimens are given. Guidance on the use of the specimens is given in an appendix.
