This standard covers the most current technology and industry practices for the use of field-applied coal tar enamel external pipe coating systems. It presents guidelines for establishing minimum requirements to ensure proper application and performance of a these systems to the external surfaces of pipe. Also included are methods for qualifying and controlling the quality of a coal tar enamel system, guidelines for its proper application, and inepction and repair techniques to ensure its long-term performance. There is also an appendix with several tables detailing the physical properties of these coating systems. This standard is maintained by Task Group (TG) 250.
